SXSN MODEL UNITED NATIONS 2025
TERRA UNICA, CURA COMMUNIS
St. Xavier’s School, Nevta proudly presents SXSN MUN 2025 —
a distinguished platform where young minds converge to explore diplomacy,
dialogue, and global responsibility. Guided by the theme
Terra Unica, Cura Communis
, the conference emphasises the urgency of collective action to safeguard
our shared planet. It challenges delegates to think critically, collaborate
effectively, and lead with purpose. Here, at this prestigious conference,
young Xaverites are given the opportunity not only to articulate and
debate, but also to think like the great leaders of today as they brace for
tomorrow — shaping a future grounded in unity, sustainability, and
foresight.
Dear Delegates, Faculty, and Esteemed Guests,
I am filled with immense gratitude as I extend my warm invitation to you
all for the first edition of the SXSN Model United Nations Conference.
What began as ‘snippets of a dream’ on 29th December 2022 when I stepped in
as a delegate in my first ever committee room to be, I’m extremely humbled
to see it unfold into an exuberant reality on 20th & 21st of August,
2025 through the endless efforts of the entire team.
This journey from aspiration to accomplishment stands as a testament to the
spirit of our Xavier community and the relentless passion of everyone
involved.
In a world increasingly divided by disputes, crises, and borders, nature
doesn’t recognise any boundaries. Resource scarcity, pandemics, climate
change, and environmental degradation serve as a reminder that no barrier
is strong enough, and no wall high enough, to defend one at the expense of
another. Our greatest and sole common remedy is the Earth, in all its
fragility and resilience. We must work together to survive and heal. The
conference therefore thrives in the roots of this truth under the
egalitarian theme: ‘Terra Unica, Cura Communis.’
As you prepare to take your place in committee rooms, remember that behind
every idea that divides and differing opinions that birth debate, exist
resolutions and collaborations that bring us closer to the ideals of peace,
equity, and progress for we share a common abode, a collective
responsibility: Earth.
So, consider this as an opportunity to create an unforgettable chapter in
the legacy of St. Xavier’s, Nevta.
With a heart that fails to accommodate the pride and gratitude for all
those who made this beautiful endeavour possible, I convey my sincerest
regards.
Vihaan Bajaj
Secretary-General
SXSN MUN 2025
As we see the first edition of St. Xavier’s School Nevta Model United
Nations (SXSN MUN) Conference unfold in all its glory, I am filled with a
sense of optimism and pride. In a world where issues such as climate
change, political instability, poverty, refugee crisis, unethical
journalism and global health emergencies need our attention, it is now more
crucial than ever to encourage the leaders of tomorrow who can overcome
adversity and lead solutions to a better world, aligning with our aim at
Xavier’s.
Model United Nations provides our students with a distinctive chance to get
into the shoes of diplomats, negotiate, and discuss some of the world’s
most pertinent issues. It encourages a sense of cooperation, critical
thinking, and communication skills that are integral in addressing the
complexities of geopolitics in the modern era.
At St. Xavier’s School Nevta, we believe in empowering our students to
think critically, act responsibly, and lead with empathy. This conference is
a reflection of those values, giving our students the platform to explore
multiple viewpoints and engage with global issues with an open mind. I
strongly believe that through this experience, our students will become
compassionate leaders, able to address the challenges of our interconnected
world.
I hope to witness their eagerness and development during this life-changing
experience.
Warm regards,
Fr. Sangeeth Raj, SJ

In the era of political battles and corrupt morals, Xavierites choose to
reflect, debate and take meaningful action.
Promoting this mission through the SXSN MUN 2025, rooted in the theme Terra
Unica, Cura Communis — One Earth, Shared Responsibility— this conference
calls our students to rise beyond rhetoric and step into the deeper call of
stewardship and solidarity.
At St. Xavier’s School, Nevta, education has always been more than
academics. It is a journey of shaping character, nurturing conscience, and
instilling the courage to serve. Our ethos reflects this vision, offering
young minds the opportunity to engage with real-world issues through the
lens of empathy, humility, and responsibility.
Model United Nations is not just an intellectual pursuit — it is a mirror
to the world we are preparing our students to enter. As delegates represent
nations and tackle complex challenges, they learn that true leadership is
born not from authority, but from understanding and compassion.
May this conference inspire our Xavierites to think boldly, speak wisely,
and act justly — as future leaders, and more importantly, as men and women
for others.

The journey of education is not only about acquiring knowledge but about
cultivating wisdom, compassion, and a sense of shared destiny.
Through platforms like these, students are challenged to step beyond
textbooks and engage with the real-world complexities that define our age.
They learn that dialogue, diplomacy, and collaboration are the true tools
of change. It is here that young minds are moulded into thoughtful leaders
who recognize that the future depends not only on innovation but on unity
and empathy.
St. Xavier’s School, Nevta, remains committed to nurturing individuals who
can balance intellect with integrity. This conference provides the perfect
opportunity for young Xavierites to refine their skills of negotiation,
critical thinking, and ethical reasoning — qualities essential for building
a just and sustainable world.
May every delegate embrace this opportunity with enthusiasm,
responsibility, and a deep commitment to make a difference.
Wishing all participants a fruitful and inspiring experience at SXSN MUN
2025.

What is it to be a global leader?
St. Xavier’s School, Nevta envisions that students of today will become the
leaders of tomorrow. We intent to equip with the ability to think
independently, speak boldly and act with intent. Our Model United Nations
(MUN) conference provides the ideal forum to discuss real-life problems,
acquire leadership skills, and learn all about diplomacy.
It isn’t merely standing at a podium and debating—it’s about delving deep
into significant issues, developing your communication skills, and learning
to negotiate. In the process, students learn how to collaborate, respect
differing opinions, and be more empathetic towards others’ opinions. It’s
all about teamwork, problem-solving, and thinking on your feet.
The MUN conference is an environment where everyone is encouraged to test
their boundaries, experiment with new things, and develop both in and out
of the classroom. It’s all about stepping up and expanding what you’re doing
and being.
Ultimately, we hope our students graduate from this event as poised,
well-rounded people who can make an impact. We can’t wait to watch them
interact, learn, and develop, making their own mark on the world.

Mrs. Anita Jayadevan

UNGA: IMPACT OF CYBERCRIMES AND CYBER SECURITY ON INTERNATIONAL SECURITY
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is the main deliberative body of the United Nations, where representatives from all 193 member states meet to discuss global issues. Each country has an equal vote, ensuring equal representation for nations both large and small. The UNGA addresses a wide range of topics, including international peace, sustainable development, climate change, human rights, and humanitarian aid. Its annual sessions in September bring world leaders together to share perspectives and propose solutions to pressing challenges.
One of UNGA’s key committees is the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), also known as the First Committee. DISEC focuses on global security, disarmament, and the regulation of armaments, working to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction. While its decisions are non-binding, its recommendations strongly influence international treaties and negotiations.
Today, DISEC faces the urgent challenge of cyber warfare and cyber terrorism — threats that have shifted conflict into the digital realm. Entire cities can now be paralyzed by a single line of malicious code. In this new landscape, DISEC must address critical questions: How to defend nations when the battlefield is invisible? How to protect innocent lives against cyber-attacks that could cripple entire countries?
Its mission has never been more vital.
UNEP: Recognition of stateless victims: Climate Refugees
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global authority on environmental issues, working to promote sustainable development and address pressing ecological challenges. As the environmental arm of the United Nations, UNEP brings together governments, NGOs, and experts to advocate for a healthy planet and sustainable future. UNEP’s mandate spans a wide range of environmental concerns, from climate change to biodiversity conservation and pollution reduction. Through its programs and initiatives, UNEP seeks to inspire global action to protect the Earth’s ecosystems.
One of UNEP’s critical areas of focus is the growing issue of climate refugees. These are individuals and communities displaced due to the adverse impacts of climate change, such as rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and desertification. The crisis of climate refugees has become an urgent humanitarian and environmental issue, as millions of people are forced to leave their homes in search of safety and stability. UNEP plays a vital role in raising awareness about the intersection of climate change and displacement, while promoting solutions to prevent and address the suffering of these vulnerable populations.
In an increasingly unstable climate, UNEP’s mission to address the plight of climate refugees has never been more urgent. How do we protect those displaced by environmental disasters? What policies can ensure their rights and livelihoods are preserved in a changing world? UNEP’s efforts in this area will shape the future of global climate justice.
RAJYA SABHA: Deliberation on One Nation, One Election
The Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of India’s Parliament, plays a crucial role in shaping national legislation and policy. Comprising representatives from the states and union territories, the Rajya Sabha serves as a forum for diverse voices, ensuring that the interests of all regions are represented in the law making process. As the country’s legislative body, it is instrumental in reviewing and revising bills, proposing amendments, and contributing to the creation of a balanced, inclusive national policy.
One of the most significant and debated proposals in recent years is the concept of “One Nation, One Election.” This idea advocates for simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha (the Lower House) and state legislative assemblies across India. Proponents argue that this system could reduce electoral costs, increase voter turnout, and streamline the electoral process, making governance more efficient. However, critics raise concerns about the logistical and constitutional challenges of implementing such a system, as well as its potential to centralize political power.
In the Rajya Sabha, this proposal can spark intense debate on issues of federalism, democracy, and the practicalities of election management. As India continues to evolve, the discussion of “One Nation, One Election” will be pivotal in shaping the future of its democratic processes and governance.
INTERNATIONAL PRESS: Journalists, Caricaturists, Photographers
International press in an MUN conference plays a crucial role in capturing the essence and significance of the diplomatic simulations. The International Press Corps operates as a bridge between the conference proceedings and broader global audience. Their reporting not only provides insight into the debates, resolutions, and diplomatic maneuvers within MUN committees but also highlights the diversity of perspectives and the enthusiasm of young delegates. The International Press serves as a beacon of transparency, shedding light on the intricate world of diplomacy by fostering greater understanding of the challenges and solutions discussed by the future leaders gathered in this unique forum.
